イラクからの手紙

Many thanks for this detailed information and vision, I agree with you that we need some time to collect the data after this discontinuation for few years, honestly speaking without you the ●●● meeting will lack a major component as we are looking for an analysis not just face to face meeting with other colleagues. Let us hear from Mr.〇〇 and Mr. 〇〇.

As you know I’m in contact with all of pediatric units in the country to know how many children affected with cancer per 2022 and we finished the input, we are going to check the duplicate, it will be the first time that we know our new cancer number per year.For the age, Yes me too will be reach ''KANREKI’’ after 2 years!

Regarding your work, we never understand how to do analysis of outcome without your dedicated follow up and instruction, maybe you find your work simple but for us it is unforgotten, yes we have link with more than one institution abroad but they have a well-equipped data-base and they didn’t help us in collecting and analysis the data because it is the work of statistical department in their institutions but with you, every detailed information we discuss it with you and we got a reasonable analysis but having our manual work only not through the data-base.

Still we don’t want to push you to continue but it is our privilege to have you with us in the next ●●● meeting (if any).

うれしいものだ。先日のイラク医師からのメール。2003年以降関わっているイラクの小児がん支援で関係をもった医者からだ。2003年イラク戦争終了直後にバグダッドで彼と出会った。写真はその時のものだ。もう20年前だ。その後2005年に彼がアンマンで研修を受けている時に再会し、エクセルを使った患者データーベースの収集とその解析の手ほどきをした。そして2009年からは我々が関わっている数か所の小児がんセンターの治療成績の解析を毎年アップデートしてきた。2015年時点での解析をSIOP Asiaの学会でポスター発表し、それはこのブログの”rehavilitation for” のページに挙げている。彼は優秀な医者であり彼独自に勉強をし、今ではエクセルのハードユーザーになっている。彼はイラクの小児がん治療ではNo1と言ってもいい地位にいる。教授クラスである。そんな彼が私の仕事を評価してくれている。ありがたいことだ。確かに、彼が書いているように私は経時的に10年以上にわたり彼らの治療成績の解析をフォローしてきた。それは彼が関係をもっている他の先進国の医療機関はしてくれない。また国際的な学会で信用を得、イラク全体の治療成績の向上のためには、一つの病院だけではなくイラク全体の症例数・治療成績などの正確なデータ蓄積の重要性を説いてもきた。それを彼が中心となり昨年初めてイラク全土でのデーター収集を行い、今はその解析にはいっている。素晴らしいことだ。

もう彼と出会ってからは20年だ。私は３月にはKANREKIだ。高齢化に伴う活動性の低下とともに、いろいろあり海外支援のモティベーションも低下している。そろそろ次の世代に引き継ぐ時ではあろう。私は、彼の期待に副うべく最後の御奉公を勤めなければ。
